The history of EVABIO
The history of EVABIO begins with a strong belief that waste materials can be transformed and reintegrated into the production cycle with renewed and innovative value. The concept of Environmental Value Awareness (EVA) is central to the company’s mission, aiming to transform discarded materials into high-performance products that promote circularity and sustainability within the polymer industry. This belief was deeply inspired by a personal and family legacy rooted in environmental responsibility.
The name EVA is a tribute to Eva Luci Lopes Prado, CEO of Petropol, and a significant figure in the Brazilian polymer industry. Eva, the seventh daughter in her family, was named in a way that reflects protection, responsibility, and a vision of environmental stewardship. Throughout her leadership at Petropol, Eva embodied these values, instinctively implementing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices, long before they became formalized in the corporate world.
In 1994, Rafael, the founder of EVABIO, was invited to work at Petropol by Eva herself, marking the start of his journey in the polymer industry. Under the mentorship of Cesar Rogério M. Tadiotto, the founder of Petropol, Rafael learned the importance of innovation and sustainability in polymer solutions. After Rogério’s passing in 2015, Eva continued to encourage and protect Rafael, ultimately inspiring him to create a new initiative that would contribute to the global polymer market while addressing the ecological challenges facing the world.
In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting supply chain disruptions, Rafael discovered the potential in using renewable sources and recycled materials to solve these challenges. This realization led to the development of innovative polymer compounds based on waste materials and biopolymers sourced from renewable origins. Applying the Cradle to Cradle (C2C) concept, EVABIO focused on creating continuous life cycles for materials, transforming waste into valuable resources that could be reused indefinitely.
The coincidence of the name EVA with an existing sustainability initiative, Environmental Value Awareness, led by Radici Plastics further solidified the company’s mission. This alignment of values, combined with the personal and professional inspiration from Eva Luci Lopes Prado, gave birth to EVABIO, a company that unites family tradition with cutting-edge innovation in sustainable materials.
